Plasencia Alma del Cielo Robusto Celeste, or “Soul of the Sky,” gets its name from the mountains it’s grown in. Some of the filler in the Celeste comes from Finca San Julian, a farm that sits over 3,500 feet up in Condega, Nicaragua. Tobacco isn’t usually grown at that height. The colder nights and thinner air slow the growth process. But, that process gives this cigar a refined taste you wouldn’t get from traditionally grown tobacco. The wrapper and binder are all Nicaraguan, as well as the fillers, with some of it including the Condega-grown leaf. Plasencia has been growing tobacco since 1865, and this is the first time they’ve built a regular production cigar around the mountainous farm.
