In 1995 as a young law student at Brooklyn Law School, Jonathan Drew decided to enter the cigar industry — at the height of the cigar boom —  by opening a small 16-square foot retail kiosk at the World Trade Center in Manhattan. One year later, Jonathan partnered with his fraternity brother, Marvin Samel, giving birth to a cigar brand that would forever change the cigar industry: Drew Estate Cigars.

Jonathan and Marvin wouldn’t describe it as the “birth of a cigar company”, but as “The Rebirth of Cigars.” By offering cigars and brands that injected innovation into the industry, Drew Estate released its first cigar, La Vieja Habana, in 1998. In 1999, Jonathan and Marvin followed by releasing a brand that would be a major disruptor to the marketplace and would go on to become one of the best-selling cigar brands in the world – Acid.

Now fast forward 24 years to 2019. Drew Estate is one of the largest and most popular cigar manufacturers in the world. They blend and roll more than 120,000 cigars every day. The uniqueness and creativity of Jonathan Drew helped usher in an era of cigars that forever changed the industry. Their ability to innovate was a catalyst for the industry and helped inspire and motivate new cigar manufacturers for the last 20 years. In 2019, Drew Estate has one of the most diverse and popular portfolios of any cigar manufacturer. Their cigars are some of the most highly sought-after brands in every store, and the demand for their product continues to grow at an exponential rate.
